Through our Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA) with Microsoft, we are able to provide SQL Server licensing to our client on a monthly basis with no long term commitment.
SQL Server Versions and SQL Server Editions
You can choose from the newest versions of SQL Server or utilize older version for compatibility reasons. We offer SQL Server 2014 Hosting, SQL Server 2012 Hosting and SQL Server 2008 Hosting. You can choose from various editions including SQL Server Standard, SQL Server Enterprise and SQL Server Web. SQL Server Express is also available as a free download.

SQL Server Licensing
The SQL Server licensing we provide through the SPLA program are monthly licenses with no long-term commitment. If you downsize or cancel server, you are not locked in to future payments for SQL Server such as you would have if purchasing or financing SQL Server from a software vendor. In addition, with our licensing, you always have access to the most recent version of SQL Server so you can upgrade at anytime with no additional fees. A few years back, Microsoft changed the pricing on SQL from per processor to per core, with a minimum of 4 cores per CPU. Our pricing for licensing is shown on our online calculators and is cheaper than most other providers. For example, SQL Server Standard is $275 per month for 4 cores. Per user pricing (per CAL/SAL) is also available – contact Riptide to learn more on CAL/SAL pricing. Leading software vendors are selling a perpetual 4 core license of SQL Standard for approximately $7,000 plus annual software assurance. If you meet the criteria, SQL Server Web Edition may also be a great choice at only $20/month. Lastly, Microsoft offers SQL Server Express which is a powerful free version with certain restrictions (i.e. 10 GB database size).

SQL Server Web Edition
Server Web Edition is a version provided only through hosting providers. SQL Server Web has many of the same features as SQL Standard at a significantly lower cost. SQL Server Web Edition may be used only to support public and Internet accessible Web pages, Web sites, Web applications, and Web Services. SQL Server Web edition is available for $20 per 4 cores on either our Dedicated Server Hosting or Virtual Server Hosting.
SQL Server Express
Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express is a free, feature-rich edition of SQL Server that is ideal for many web & small server applications. You can download SQL Server Express 2014 and SQL Server 2012 Express using the links below.

SQL Server Hosting with Riptide Hosting
We offer SQL Server Hosting on both our dedicated server hosting and virtual server hosting options. For SQL Server Hosting requiring more powerful resources or connection with a web server or terminal server, we recommend our powerful Dedicated Server Hosting.
