{"id":1473,"date":"2018-10-12T12:20:23","date_gmt":"2018-10-12T12:20:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.RiptideHosting.com\/blog\/?p=1473"},"modified":"2019-10-18T15:34:23","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T15:34:23","slug":"windows-2016-remote-desktop-server-rds-doesnt-allow-change-password-at-next-logon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.RiptideHosting.com\/blog\/windows-2016-remote-desktop-server-rds-doesnt-allow-change-password-at-next-logon\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows 2016 Remote Desktop Server RDS doesn&#8217;t allow change password at next logon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have seen several users have this issue where they cannot login if the checkbox in user properties for\u00a0\u201cuser much change password at next logon\u201d has been enabled.\u00a0 Various comments and posts online indicate that changes in the windows authentication process in recent OS versions don\u2019t allow expired users to change their password via RDP once it expires when Network Level Authentication or Credential Security Support Provider (CredSSP) is enabled.\u00a0 This is only an issue trying to force users to change their password on a RDP session \u2013 it works fine from a console session if you are local to the machine.<\/p>\n<p>Try to un-check this box by \u201cuser must change password at next logon\u201d if it is currently checked.
